Why did you start working for Upshift?
I heard about Upshift online when I was looking for gig work in October, 2021. I have a full-time job, but things were slowing down there. I was looking for something flexible where I could make some extra money during the slower periods of the year. I’ve been working on Upshift consistently ever since then.
What do you do outside of Upshift?
I retired from the Navy a few years ago and started working in hospitality which is what I do full time now. When I’m not working, I like to travel to different places around the US. I mostly travel to coastal places with access to nice beaches. Two of my favorite places to go are Savannah and Myrtle Beach.

Do you have any advice for new Upshifters?
Make sure to communicate with the onsite supervisors or staff if you have any questions during your shift. Everyone I’ve met has been really helpful, but you have to be able to communicate how things are going. This will not only help you during the shifts you are currently working but may allow you to learn new skills which you can use on a future shift.
What have been your favorite shifts so far?
I’ve worked at a bunch of different businesses around Atlanta including Lynbrook, Georgia Aquarium, Morrison Leaving and Flik. I’ve really enjoyed working all my shifts because I’ve been able to learn and develop new skills from each one. I also love that these shifts allow us to meet and work with people we haven’t met before.
